I've got a 9mm pistol with lots of jacket fouling, No pitting, but the more I clean it, it seems more jacket fouling appears. I've used butches bore shine, JB bore past, and it seems I have just a little bit of jacket fouling that will not come out.
Will blue majic work on the bore, or will it just dull down the rifling? Any suggestions? |

I'd recommend a super copper remover like Sweet's 7.62.
A lot of match rifle shooters use it to remove the heavy copper fouling rifles are prone to. READ THE LABEL. This can damage a bore if mis-used. The up side is, it really removes copper. Another option is to get a bore-safe solvent like Hoppe's #9 and put the barrel in a narrow jar. Fit it with the solvent and let it soak for 24 hours or so. Hoppe's won't harm a bore no matter how long it soaks. After soaking, pitch the used up solvent. |
| Another vote for Sweets. One thing with bore fouling is that different ammo makers seem to use jackets that respond better to different solvents. So clean with one swab out the barrel with alcohol and then try another. Eventually you have a squeaky clean barrel that shines. |

I would use the electrolisis(sic) method, I used it on an ancient star model b barrel and it took 5 treatment of 15 mins each to remove all of the fouling, electrode was green in 4 of the 5 treatments(totally gross), last one was pretty clean, the bore looked like crap until the last treatment, when it started to shine like the day it was made, just remember to spray down with a water dispersant oil afterwards or the bbl will start to rust
