I just aquired a S&W M17-2, it's in great shape w/ a trigger pull that induces big smiles. However one of the previous owners was a bone head & took a dremel tool to the face of the .400 grooved trigger. It's now smooth & shiney  has that " I used a Dremel & I'm a freakin' dumb ass" look to it. I called S&W & thay want $46.00 bucks for a new trigger !  The last time I dealt w/ them they sent stuff out for free wth !  Anyway is there any one that might stock such an animal that doesn't want an arm & a leg ? Here is a pic of her :

It appears the previous owner did not like the grooves on the trigger but he left it in bare metal.
You may just want to remove that one and get it refinished...or a locate a "service" trigger, the narrower ones, they turn up at gunshows or some older gunshops where they still work on guns from people who have upgraded to a "target" trigger.
Parts can be found online, e-gunparts.com is just one such place.
Model 17s are great guns, I hope you can get it back "in shape".

Thanks anothergene !  Might just break down & get it from S&W. The things people do to classic firearms disturbs me

I'm wanting a M15 next I think

Like a kitchen table "magna porting" job, holes all over the top of the barrel or the 100% sandblasting job on a stainless python, the guy never even took the sights off!
And he was asking "only" $600 for it!
At least yours is harmless and just the trigger.

What is "classic" now has not always been so, and S&W triggers used to be a dime a dozen...unfortunately no longer the case, either. FYI, any "K". "L", or "N" frame trigger from the appropriate years when the innards were the same as yours will work. It is the hammers that are different. Maybe that will open up your search market a bit.
