Well I finally decided to drink the Kool-aid and ended up with a M&P Pro which will be used for IDPA and 3 gun events. Took the brand new gun to the range today and fired about 100 rounds through it with various ammo. No failures and functioned flawlessly. I love the long sight radius and it made 20-25 yard shots seem to be no problem. The Trigger left something to be desired but it is already on its way to Apec Tactical to get a competition trigger job which will take care of that. When I was packaging the gun I noticed that the rear sight was very loose and was moving from side to side without even putting pressure on the sight. Have any of you experienced this with your M&P rear site? Is this a common occurance that I need to be aware of?
Thanks, James |

Some sights end up being undersized.
Locktite the dovetail with red locktite, add a little blue locktite to the setscrew, torque it down and call it a day. Thousands of rounds later my two M&P's with "loose" rear sights still havent come loose and ive done all manner of one handed manipulations with these things and racked them on a ton of difference surfaces. If it really bothers you, you can always call smith and see what they have to say. |

I've removed the rear sight on six M&P pistols to install the Apex USB. On five of these the rear sight was tight. One Pro model was very loose. Luckily for me the loose sight was on a friend's gun, not mine.
If it were me I'd replace the rear sight with a Warren Tactical. I wouldn't be happy with a loose sight. |
| It seems that most people recommend changing the sights on the Pro Series to the Warren Tactical. What is the major reasoning for the change? What are the advantages of the Warren sights? I personally like the sight picture I get with the factory Pro sights. thanks, |

Warren makes a rear sight that matches up with the taller Pro front sight. 3. A lot of people like the sight picture. |

This is probably going to sound stupid, but I've found with my new .45 and cheap wally world white box, that the residue seems to collect quickly on the front site. After 200 rounds it pretty much covered the dot and made picking up the site a PITA. Never had this issue on my USPs. Anyone else notice this? |
