Is it possible to add an ambi-safety to an M&P9 without major modification? I know its a factory option but looking used I'm not seeing too many with the ambi-safety out there.

if your frame is cut for the parts, all it takes is a new sear housing and the safety, and it drops right it.  However Smith will not sell the parts if the gun did not come equipped with that feature when it left the factory, and they will not install it if you send it it.  Stupid but their rules, went through this with my older 45.

thanks for the quick response. I guess its some sort of liability on their part. Hopefully I can find a gun shop with the parts in stock. Sounds like a pretty big headache but I really want another external safety.

Looks like most of the new ones are shipping with these.

I found this post a bit ironic because I just tore my city apart looking for a full size 45 WITHOUT the safety

if you dont find one, buy the safety model and I'll swap assemblies with ya, its really easy to remove
