I got one of the earlier M&Ps the first year they came out.  The M&P has seen no more than just 500 rounds through it and works flawlessly.  Well, I field stripped the gun today to clean and noticed something unusual.  The solid extractor pin is slightly protruding on the inside of the gun.  The pin seems to be seated a little too deep from the top of the slide.  That being said, I have not had any extraction problems nor are their any signs of wear or shearing from the extractor pin sticking in just a little too much.  I do not remember if the gun came from the factory this way since it's been about a year since I shot this gun last.  Has anyone else had this happen to them and is it cause for concern?  I stripped my M&P 45 as comparison and noticed that it had a roll style pin that was sitting flush on the inside.

I just looked at my M&P 9, and the extractor pin is indeed recessed a few millimeters. The .45 is a totally different beast.

Mine is the same way OP. I wouldn't worry about it. I have less rounds through mine than you and ZERO problems. I love this pistol.
