I have a SW99 in 9MM looks new no marks or scratches on it. I have been trying to sell it here on AR for 475 plus shipping. I cant find any in 9MM but saw the same in 40 going for close to 500. Am I too high, is this a gun no one wants, am i stuck?

Any comments will help.

I have seen 99's go on GB (yes, I know that GB and realistic prices shouldn't be used in the same sentence) for over $500 when i was last looking at those prices and 40. cal prices should be cheaper as the 9mm is percieved to be a more reliable pistol and far fewer were produced.
I think several things suppress the prices on these otherwise fine pistols.
One is the dearth of mags at cheap prices but mags are available. I have recently received some that were new for $36.95 ea and CDNN sells 40 cal mags that can be easily tweaked to be uber reliable for around $20.
Another is the NJ order that went awry because the NJ troopers who specifed what they wanted on the pistols created a less than perfect pistol.
The 99's in 40. cal have been less than perfect just like some of those so chambered in 40 made by Walther. Much of that was attributted to a mag design flaw that was fixed.
Some of the stink from the Sigma rubbed off on the S&W 99. No offense loyal Sigma owners.
That being said I think these are fine pistols and my S&W 99 in 9mm is my everyday carry gun.
I cannot tell any difference in practical accuracy or in handling between mine and a 2006 produced Walther P99.
If you look at what Walther P99's are selling for new ($700-$800) your new S&W 99 should be considered a pretty good deal. A deal made sweeter by the fact that the Walther has a 1 year warranty and the S&W is warrantied for life.
I remember when nobody wanted to buy the S&W model 520's that were sold after NY State decided against that pistol and have you seen the prices on those which have become N frame cult favorite?
The same thing applies to all the S&W model 28's that were put to pasture in the 80's and I believe the 99 owner of today will do quite well in the future.

Good luck.
