Nope.......spend a little more and get the M&P or a GLock.  I had mine for 2 months and got rid of it.

i admit i am a newbie and havent fired a whole lot of weapons, but i like mine.  easy to clean, easy to shoot and eats every type of ammo i have put in her without a single FTF,FTE, etc.

i dont know if it could win a sharpshooting contest, but i can put every round in the bad guy's chest.  i got mine for $300...but for what i see them going for now though, i would probably get something else.

Its the best value in a semi-auto available today.
I used to shoot IDPA with a guy who use one only because loved to beat guys with expensive guns.

The older ones are essentially glock copies.  With all the benefits and flaws of a glock.  With a bit lower quality, but better ergonomics.

The later ones have a longer trigger reset, but are more reliable.
Either way, with street prices for 17 rd 9mm sigmas in the $300 range, they are a heck of a value.

Dont forget also that you have that lifetime S&W service program backing you up.

It is an acceptable weapon in 9mm.

The 40 SW version sux.

It has a heavy trigger pull.
It has a expensive magazine.
Tends to be less reliable with hollow points.
has basic sights, and the front tends to pop off, good luck getting a new one.
No holsters are made for it specifically
It fits small hands well, but the trigger pull will kill them.

I have more if you want them

The trigger is worse than some,  the magazine is no more expensive than most cdnn used 19.99 new 29.99, mine cycles hollow points just fine, for sights try smiths lifetime service policy, and  fobus and blackhawk make specific holsters for these guns.

My SW40VE is great.  Never had any problems with it.  It's not a tack driver by any means but like was said before I can put all the rounds from the magazine into the center mass at 10 yards rapid fire.

I fired the 9mm version before I bought my .40 and for some reason it felt like the front flipped more on the 9mm than on the .40.

I'm happy with my 9VE. Hasnt failed me yet. It feels very good in your hand, and I know I feel better having it over having a Surefire and a can of mace...

I'm sending it off to LSG later this month, so they can clean up the trigger action on it and make it take less than a full power shot to pull the trigger...
