I just bought a 38 spcl Lady Smith revolver from gunbroker. I cannot see what model it is anywhere on the gun, nor does the manual that comes with it. Anybody know how I can identify what model revolver this is? It has the short barrel, I believe 2.5 inches. It is brushed (not blued) also, not sure that makes a difference in models.

Should be stamped on the frame inside the crane.  Most likley a 64 or 65 dash something.  K frame.

Sorry bro, but I'm revolver deficient... what is the crane? Is that the top or bottom part that the cylinder is cradled in? I looked but if it is stamped it must really be small.

scratch that last post. i had looked around but could not find a definition of what the crane was - but just did. i looked and voila', it says "mod 60-3" and has 967 also stamped, i'm assuming that is the sn of the gun... is that correct? I certainly don't see any other numbers on it!

Model 60 dash 3.  The 967 is likely not the serial number but what Smith calls assembly numbers.  SN is usually stamped on the butt.  You may have to take the grips off.  J frame, the smallest one SMith does.

I actually did not have to take the grips off, it was readily visible.
Thanks!

Be SURE to keep a list of ALL of your firearm's S/N's in case they should be stolen! Nothing worse than trying to tell a cop you have no idea what the S/N's are so they can check the pawn shops.

My apologies if you already knew this.
