I have been considering a purchase of the CS45 but I do not know anything about them. This will be for conceled carry. Are they reliable? and how much should I expect to pay for one in TX. I know price my vary but I just want a balpark guess. Thank You |

Well, I don't know about reliable, but I do know they're a slow selling gun for most dealers. They have all the ergonomics (for me) of holding a 2x4 piece of wood in my hand.
If you're wanting a small .45acp semi for CCW, there's lots better options out there, IMO. I'm betting your dealer is giving you a good price on one? If not, he darn well should be, IMO. These guns normally list for $400-450 at the gun shows. In 20 years of working gun shows, I never sold one of these despite having them displayed.

FWIW:
First, ALL 3rd generation Smith & Wesson pistols have a history of unusually good reliability. I have 6 of them and if memory is correct I've NEVER had one fail, and that's sorta surprising because my plinking ammo is the cheap Winchester White Box Value Pac from WalMart.. That ammo can be very good or not so good, depending on the batch. Reliability is JOB 1 in a self defense firearm, and reliability in the 3rd gen Smiths is a given. Don't know a thing about the CS45, but I do have a CS9 and it's my carry piece when I need a cc firearm larger than my Seecamp. The CS9 is sweet and very accurate.. I think the overall size of the CS45 is larger than the CS9. Best Wishes, Jesse P.S. And I'm presently in the process of buying a used CS45... |
