Hey guys, Just picked up an S&W MP9 the other day. Is it possible to have the Mag Safety disabled? I really do find it to be a pain in the ass. I didn't realize at first the model I purchased had it until after the fact. Are there any Gun Smiths that can remove it, or disable it for good? |

Yes it can be disabled. You can also buy a sear without the mag safety and simply replace yours. I see that you're in PA and so is one of (if not the) best M&P gunsmith: Burwell Gunsmithing. Contact Dan and let him know what you want. He could even clean up the trigger for you while he has it! |

Having never owned a handgun (Always shot my dad's revolver) how important is a mag safety? I understand the importance to the LE crowd - someone tries to grab your gun and use it on you - but what about just for general self defense? I see both sides of the issue. The safety in the above scenario, but what if in a panic you drop the mag out on accident...you are now left with a locked gun where as without the lock you'd have 1 round... Anyway, any advice is appreciated! |
