Hey guys,

Just picked up an S&W MP9 the other day. Is it possible to have the Mag Safety disabled? I really do find it to be a pain in the ass. I didn't realize at first the model I purchased had it until after the fact.

Are there any Gun Smiths that can remove it, or disable it for good?

Yes it can be disabled. You can also buy a sear without the mag safety and simply replace yours. I see that you're in PA and so is one of (if not the) best M&P gunsmith: Burwell Gunsmithing.

Contact Dan and let him know what you want. He could even clean up the trigger for you while he has it!

Burwell's instructions on removing the mag safety yourself...

Having never owned a handgun (Always shot my dad's revolver) how important is a mag safety?  I understand the importance to the LE crowd - someone tries to grab your gun and use it on you - but what about just for general self defense?

I see both sides of the issue.  The safety in the above scenario, but what if in a panic you drop the mag out on accident...you are now left with a locked gun where as without the lock you'd have 1 round...

Anyway, any advice is appreciated!
