Does anyone have any thoughts on why there's a dearth of Model 14s out there for sale? I RARELY see them listed in Gun Digest, while I almost always see model 15s listed. Seemingly, they're about as common as a Model 52 for sale in Gun Digest........ ![]() Did I do good with getting mine (8-3/8" bbl) 2 years ago for $400? |

I personally think the M14s are relatively scarce because they make great shooters and because most who bought them to start with ARE shooters and have likely passed them down to others who are too. I have passed up a couple in great condition simply because I find I no longer shoot my revolvers enough to justify having more than a handful and my M17 is even more fun to shoot than any centerfire, for me at least. Yep...ya done good! |
| Probably not as many made. Wonderful piece of machinery, but 6" 38 Special target revolver was a niche market and not a large one. Model 15's were widely used as an LEO piece and as standard issue to USAF. I would guess M15 production outnumbered M14 by a factor of ten, at least. |
I saw a beater one for $275 the other day ..the finish was pretty worn. It was the only one I've seen in years of haunting gun shops. (8" & 3/8") Johnson's in Adrian MI if anyone wants to contact them. |
