I just shot the new MP 9mm I bought. Shooting WWB from Wallmart the emptys come straight back and hit me in the glasses or the forehead almost 100% of the time. What is the ejection pattern on yours like? Think the one I got needs to go back? Thanks. |

I just went with my son to the range today with my new one. My son had the brass coming back at him from time to time. All my brass went to the side like it should. Check to make sure that you have a firm grip on it. let some one else shoot it to see if it's the pistol or ??? |
Go play somewhere else Again thanks to the people that had something useful to say. |
I must have hurt your feelings. ![]() I was only trying to help and I'll try to explain it better so that you understand without getting your feelings hurt. My son's hands are bigger than mine. My pistol has the medium size grip on it. Today we put the large grip on it to see how he shot. Guess what? No brass to his face. If you venture to the MP pistol forum you'll find out that some people get brass to the face if they hold the MP with not so good of a grip. Why, I don't know. That's all! I'm sure that you'll be upset if you sent your pistol back to S&W just to get a response that it's O.K. |
From your post it is obvious others are having the same issue with the brass. To me it says little for a gun that is that sensitive on how held when it fired. I have never had any issues with my Rugers or Sig when shooting IDPA or PPC no matter what method the pistol was required to be shot. If a got a response from S&W hat a pistol was supposed to eject the brass in your face I would probably frame it for every one to see. |
You don't have to be a dick about it! ThreeMan was trying to help you out!

Doesn't matter what you shoot in IPDA, PPA or what ever you want to claim, It doesn't change the fact; The S&W just may not fit your hand correctly. Rugers and SIGs have wider hand grips than the S&W MP. Therefore the Rugers and SIGs might work better for your hands. Obviously you think that your some kind of great master shooter or something, because I simply suggested that your grip on the MP pistol or pistol ergonomics may not fit you and your feelings got hurt. Now my turn to be a dick and say If your grip is soft like your feelings you'll never be the best that you can become at shooting. Just because you shoot IPDA and PPA doesn't mean you hit squat. Furthermore if S&W sent back a letter to tell you that "nothing is wrong with the pistol" and you posted it for all to see, We'd all have a good laugh because "I told you so". In my explination I wrote that other have had issues with brass to the face. They corrected the way the grip the pistol and no more brass to the face. I have to suggest if you don't want your feelings hurt again don't come on the WEB to cry about how this or that doesn't work for you, then try to cover the hurt by blaming the manufacturer or equipment. |
Same with blazer 115 gr. I bought 200 WWB and a box of Rem UMC. Going to the range tomorrow and will post when I get back. Mine only has 220+ rounds through it to date. |
Results of the UMC and WWB: Fired one box (50 rds) of UMC and my M&P 9mm exhibited the same weak ejection pattern as was the case with blzer. As I started into 200 rounds of WWB, the weak ejection pattern continued with empties hitting the bill of my cap and in some cases my eye pro. After about 50 rds of WWB the ejection pattern improved. Empties were ejecting directly to the right (3 O'Clock) but still not very forcefully. This is the only truly disappointing aspect of this pistol. I've read many reports at MP-Pistol.com of folks with M&P's that have very good ejection so I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt that it's my particular pistol and that it is an issue that can be resolved. It is somewhat disturbing that there are quite a few others who report similarly weak ejection patterns. On a positive note, my pistol has had a Dan Burwell trigger action job which resulted in a marked improvement over the OEM trigger. If you have an M&P, getting a Burwell or Bowie trigger job is a no brainer. The trigger return to reset is still "lazy" but that is inherent to the design and not a reflection of Dan's work. This pistol has enormous potential if S&W continues to refine the basic design with engineering upgrades. |
Big +1. Threeman was only trying to help. J3, if you know so much, then why are you asking for help? I guess my post wasn't helpful either, huh?
