How does the S&W model 60-9 with 2" SS barrel and fixed sights compare with a S&W model 19-3, 2 1/2" blue with pinned barrel and adjustable sights? Both guns are in .357. Also how do these guns compare with Smith & Wesson .38spl Model 637 Airweight. I would plan to use one of these as my CCW. Would the .357 be considerably larger than the .38spl? To the point it would be difficult to conceal? |
| The M19 is definitely larger than either of the others. It takes more effort and thought to conceal, and definitely is not a pocket gun, but it will shoot better for most people due to the larger frame and more weight. For a pocket pistol I would go with the 637 with hammer spur removed if those were my only choices...much lighter. |

Not trying to be a smartass, but you may as well ask if you should buy loafers or wingtips for shoes. We don't know your body shape or activities, all of which factor in on your methods of CCL. The 19 will be a hair heavier than the 60, much heavier than the J-frame airweight. A good holster & belt will negate some of this weight, but certainly not all of it. Certainly all three are top notch handguns, maybe THE best ever built in their classes. You won't go wrong with any of the choices. But for CCL, lighter is generally considered to be better by most shooters, IMO. This advice is worth exactly what you paid for it..........

Don't worry no offense taken. I'm a fairly small guy, 5'6" about 145 lbs. So it sounds like I would be better of with the 637. The reason I was asking was I have a friend with a 637 and I though it was really easy to conceal. But I know of a guy who is selling the 19 and 60 but I have never actually handled the two guns and I couldn't find any info on the weight and size of the two guns. Thanks for all the advice thus far. |
