My neighbor has a mint 32 cal revolver she bought new in the 70's.
Its blued with a dark walnut handle. 95% condition. Is it worth some coin?
What is the most you would pay? Cool little revolver.

Open up the cylinder and on the inside , on the frame will be a stamped model number, perhaps with a "-" number after the model number. The serial number may be there also but, it will surely be stamped on the bottom of the frame  below the grips. If the grips cover the botom of the frame, take them off and look for the serial number.
Both of these things are needed to give you a realistic value.

I suspect it is a small "J" frame pistol and they haven't been made in that caliber for a while.  The actual caliber will be written on the barrel. Exactly what does it say?

$1 says it's not a S&W brand, only a S&W caliber.

Rossi made small caliber revolvers, as did other makers. Looks a LOT like a S&W. I would doubt a "little old lady" would spend the coin for a true S&W brand made gun, IMO. But, I've been wrong before............

No doubt your update will tell the tale.

I have a knockoff that my grandfather found while cleaning out his friends things.
Thames Arms copy of a top break .32 S&W.
I'd bet yours is something similar.

Smith & Wesson scribed on the barrel of the 32.
She also has a SW 38 spec. ladysmith. Super clean low miles. (Early 80's)
Next time I handle the 32 I will get more facts.
Nice pistol for night stand or purse duty. (For women)
The owner is a retired CA prison nurse. Did some duty in San Quentin.
She got into guns when the guards took her shooting.
70 year old liberal black lady that digs guns. Who'd a thought?

Which is where the caliber is always marked. If it doesn't have the "S&W" on the sideplate, it's not a S&W..........

i like the idea of a .32 magnum.  i bought 2 of the 1895 nagants and use .32 S&W for target shooting and .32 H&R mag for actual ammo in them.

Could be a model 30 in 32 S&W Long.

I have a 1966 2 inch version flat latch if I remember right (it's been neglected for a few months). And the S&W "t-grip"

I got it from a retired NYPD who got it from a NYPD "matron" when she retired.

If it is, they are sweet......

This post made me think about it and so I took it out Sunday. Even sweeter than I remember.

Steve

I mispoke when I said it was marked 31 and DOM is 1972.
