thinking of getting the s&w 460. i shot my buddies s&w .500 and my face looked like this>>>>>
i like the idea of the 460 due the fact i can chamber 3 types of loads. 45 colt / 454 casuall / and of course the 460. any advise on the gun would be great!
can i use reloaded 454?
how is the felt recoil, more or less than the .500?
it seems 460 ammo is hard to find, will this change?
should i get the 12 inch or 8 3/8 barrel?
i read that some have went kaboom, due to barrel failures, is this still a problem?
thanks. NOTE: this gun will be used for punching paper and, a hard-on.

I have the 460, I also have 2 500's. I would highly recommend it. I have only shot the 460 rounds through it, so I can't comment on the other options. But I can tell you it is a super accurate gun for the size it is. It recoils less than the 500, but has more of a muzzle flash, at least with the 460 round. I have never had a problem with it at all. And the 460 round is less expensive than the 500. Merry Christmas

460 with 8-3/8" is the one for me

Ammo is available at Gander Mountain or the gun shows

Have your dealer order some in for 'ya

454 is really nice out of the Smith

I recommend owning this gun - it is good quality.

Currently $900.00 to $1,100.00 is the range across the USA

It might be worth the hassle of getting one on Guns America and doing the transfer to save some money.

Last year $1,100.00 was the going rate it should be cheaper.

Talk to the dealer see what he will do.

Does anyone own a 460 in a 5" bbl?  or has anyone ever fired one?  I was just wandering what it would feel like.

a 460 with the 8 3/8 barrel followed me home last weekend. i shot 15 rounds, (7) 454 casull (8) 460. it was really sweet.
however, to answer your question (i) would not want to shoot this gun with a short barrel. just my 2 cents.
