Can anyone tell me what the Model 63s are going for in their part of the country? Availability, etc.? The last 2-3 I saw at the local gunshow looked like they had been dragged by a rope on the way to the show. Thanks! |
Well, I feel somewhat better now. I paid $400 out the door for a 99% model w/o box & several guys said I got ripped for about $100 or better................ I have yet to see another one as nice as mine, for as cheap (I use that word loosely) as mine at a gunshow. Now I'm seeing the blued versions of the 63 for $400 & they're 75% or worse shape. S&W dropping this gun was a HUGE mistake on their part, IMO. Not everyone wants a kit gun nor a lugged 617, IMO. I put some rosewood grips on mine & the little SOB looks NIB. Great gun for just plinking! Thanks for all the replies, BTW. |
| Bob look at it this way. You got what you wanted. You are happy. The guy that sold the gun was happy. Let's say you had walked away from it. You still wouldn't have had the gun at any price. Some of the biggest gun mistakes I have made is walking away from a gun I wanted because of a few bucks. Then go back later and it's not there because someone elses ego didn't get in the way of getting what they wanted. Enjoy your gun. Prices vary regionally by a good bit at times. I'd say you came out ok. |
All true, but I could live w/o the gun & got something else in a .22 down the road. Nor do *I* like getting riped for $100, nor can I afford to do so. ![]() As I mentioned, based on what others have written in here & what I saw at later shows, I actually didn't get ripped, I may have gotten a not bad deal after all. I don't have buyer's remorse as I love the gun, it's just I wanted to feel a little better about the deal. And isn't "feelings" what owning guns are all about???????? ![]() Thanks for the reply too. |

Well I don't believe you got ripped off. I can tell you on another forum that "specializes" on Smith & Wesson handguns there are a heck of a lot more WTB modl 63"s than there are WTS model 63. As with anything else supply and demand determines the market. It frankly drives me nuts when I see someone ask about values on a forum and people go back to what they paid 5 years ago. The nature of "computer" markets makes things more available than we are aware of, but it also results in people with money making purchases at What other people think is high. However, after a while because they can't find them where they live they will pay what ever to get what they want and due to the strong economy people will pay and do. Hence "market value" One of the things to take into consideration is the condition. Sounds like you got a good one. Enjoy |
