Does any one have any experiances with the newer Sigmas in 9MM. I had an older 9mm and it was great but the older .40 I had was garbage. I heard all the problems were fixed but of course S&W would say that. I just thought for $279.00 that it seems like a good deal if it is reliable. The only problem I saw with it is it still has the cheesy recoil spring set up but I have seen after market ones so I do not mind that. I am curious about the new 9MM if you own one or have shot one please let me now your opinion good or bad. Thanks!

I have one of the first 9mm Sigma's that came out more than 10 years ago. I had lots of problems with it. Sent it back 4 times  to S&W for various problems, jaming, stovepipes, ect. After the 4th time the gun worked flawlessly, it was like a new gun or something, it eats everything I put into it and never jams anymore. It's been a great gun ever since. I had heard that the first ones were crap but they got the kinks worked out later. It's reputation has never fully recovered so there are lots of negative feelings about it but as far as I can tell they are now good guns.

S&W just won a millitary contract to provide the SW9VE (an updated Sigma) to the US Military that will be provided to the Afghanistan National Army. Either they are good guns or S&W was just the lowest bidder.

Hopefully it is a good gun and they were the lowest bidder.

I bought one a month or so ago. I really didn't need another 9mm but for 279.00 and a lifetime warranty I said what the heck. The pistol has been flawless with the different ammo I've used. Gold Dots, Win White box, My various handloads, and even some wolf. I have maybe 400 rounds thru it and am satisfied with the pistol.

That being said the trigger pull is terrible. EXTREMELY heavy, maybe 14 pounds. Accurancy is acceptable but not striking, 3-4 in at 50 ft. standing two handed. The trigger takes time to get used to.

These pistols are about the best value out there for a new gun if you have limited funds. They are not Glocks or Sigs but they do the job.

A friend of mine has a Sigma in .40 & she loves hers. No problems with hers & I've shot it, it's ok.

I'm keeping my H&Ks though.

Thanks for the replys. I think I am going to get one for an addition not a replacement. No way would I replace an HK with a Sigma. As far as the trigger goes Wolf springs should work if they make them and I think they do. I will also replace the guide rod and recoil spring with a Wolf in time. The pistol would still have well under $400 and not much over $300 in it. The guide rod on the old model .40 I had was sitting on my work bench when I was cleaning it and it flew apart. I am not much on plastic giud rods any way. Thanks for the replies folks.
