| I've been looking at M&P9s lately after fondling one at Gander Mountain. I'm a long-time 1911 fan but I want something that's cheaper to shoot and that I can customize myself. On the S&W website it lists 6 different M&P9 models with the 4.25" barrel. 2 of them are compliant with a specific state, other than that it seems they just vary in capacity from 10+1 or 17+1. Is there any way to decipher what model has what features? |

S&W doesnt do a very good job of descriptions
I compared their, Pro, Ported, Plain Full size and the compact. The full size and compact are basically the same weapon except size. The pro and ported will be significantly different from you garden variety MP. Im not sure on on their upgrades but obviously one has a ported slide. The sights will be different, Id assume the triggers have been massaged a little, Maybe a different barrel too. As far as the state compliant models... Those have safeties on them. |
| If you go to the M&P product page for the M&P9 line (http://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Category4_750001_750051_757954_-1_757781_757781_image) and select a specific model (http://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product4_750001_750051_770004_-1_757954_757781_757781_ProductDisplayErrorView_Y) it will show you the features. Basic varieties are with/without thumb safety, with/without magazine disconnect, and 10/17 rd (for compliance with specific state laws). |

Which S&W model numbers are you looking for info on? Trying to figure out which 9mm/4.25" barrel comes with no thumb safety, no magazine safety, and no internal lock. Most of it is simple, but trying to figure out which ones don't have the mag-safety and lock is eluding me. |
| Think that is going to be SKU 209301, but don't quote me on it. |

This. A 209301 is a standard M&P with regular capacity mags and no thumb safety. |
