"Smith & Wesson is introducing its highly acclaimed M&P Shield pistol, in both 9mm and .40 S&W, with a factory ported barrel and slide.Engineered on a high-strength polymer frame measuring .95-inches in width, the Performance Center Ported M&P Shield is standard with a 3.1-inch factory-ported barrel. The new barrel along with the pistol’s three precision cut ports across the top of the stainless steel slide aid in reducing muzzle flip and improve the ability to remain on target after firing. The new M&P Shield pistols have been further updated with fiber optic sights and an enhanced trigger. "

Smart move S&W. Glock moves away from porting and S&W embraces it.

In the video the new Shield appears to be easily controlled and next to no recoil but I believe that has more to do with her being a professional shooter than the ports.

I guess that the ported Shield, SKU 10109, is not yet available.

Nothing like a bit more hearing loss and concussion in close self defence  encounter.
If you need more recoil control from a 9mm shield, you need more practice, not porting.
