Anyone care to help me with the date? I assume it is in the 1980's due to the first three digits being letters, but couldn't find any more info online.

Dash 5's ran from 1988 to 1997, when the dash 6's came out.
A factory letter from S&W is a cool addition to any S&W revolver, IMO.

Your revolver likely shipped in 1996 per the Standard Catalog of Smirh and Wesson.

Exactly what I was looking for, thank you all. Trying to score a copy of the S&W book but none locally and Amazon appears to be out at the moment.
This is my first S&W. Hate I didn't discover them sooner in my collecting.
