I saw on the S&W website last night they just released a few new M&P's from the Performance Center.  They have compensator ports in the barrel, cuts in the slide (similar to their recent 1911 PC guns) and are equipped to take red dots like the CORE along with trigger stops and probably a tuned PC action such as all PC guns have.  They look fantastic!  There are 9mm and 40S&W but I didn't see any .45acp.

I'm curious if anyone has got to shoot one of these and can tell us about them?

I can tell you I was extremely excited when I first saw them, then I realized they were worthless and disallowed for most major competitions.  Looks badass if you just want a neat gun though.

They make sense for the guys who are already mounting RDOs on their pistols. May as well get the ported barrel if you're already bumped to Open Division due to the optic.

Ported barrels and red dots aren't allowed in any IDPA class, and only in Open Class USPSA/IPSC.  But that class is ruled by .38 Super race guns.  I guess you could build up the 40 and shoot Open major, but you may be at a disadvantage.  Just doesn't seem to fit in anywhere.

A lot of guys like to use their tactical style guns with red dots in 3 gun and sometimes USPSA. They don't care about getting bumped to Open and just shoot the courses for fun, so they may as well have a comp to go with it. I don't think anyone will argue that the National USPSA Open champion will be using an M&P.

I have owned, standard, VTAC, and a CORE, liked them all but they all got traded to try new things, I picked up a 5inch ported 9, day my LGS got them because I was missing the M&P.

I bought it because I just thought I would enjoy shooting it and if nothing else would save me from sending in a slide to have fun with it.

I love this thing, great trigger and just a pleasure to shoot. Best MP trigger I have had hands on including Apex installs on my previous M&Ps. My shop got a couple and I noticed a slight inconsitency in the triggers I was able to play with and I picked the best one for me.

I don't shoot comps outside of local fun matches and stuff we do on our own range but it's a hell of a firearm for the money.

My 2 cents.

Interesting, I have a standard FS M&P40 that I bought when all I could find was .40S&W ammo.  The gun itself is a great design, I love how well it fits my hand but what I really wanted was a CORE because I already had the RMR for it but I got impatient.  Now that this PC model is out I need to rethink my options.  I have a 629 V-Comp PC revolver that is incredibly sweet so the thought of a PC M&P really sounds good.

I really wish they'd make one of those that was a non CORE model
