A coworker has the chance to buy a nickel plated .38 S&W 6 shot revolver with a 2 inch barrel. Reportedly the gun is in great shape. The gun is about 20 years old. I have no information on what model or any thing else about.

What would an estimated value be?

Thanks

EDIT- Caliber added

More info is needed. Model number is best but Caliber, fixed sights or adjustable, type of grips, etc would help. Does it have the box and/or paperwork/accessories ?

Opps...its a .38. I have no other info. I told the coworker I needed more info also but was hoping to get a ball park price for him.

Most likely options are a model 10 or 12 (assuming it's actually nickel and not stainless). $300-500 is a ballpark

If it's actually nickel, it could be a model 10 or a model 15, depending on if it has fixed or adjustable sights.  Depending on the condition it could be anywhere from 300-600.  Revolvers have gone up quite a bit lately, and a pristine model without a lock could go as high as 550 or 600.  If he has the original box and wax paper that's practically guaranteed.
