Hey guys I'm looking for a new carry pistol I currently carry a mp 40 with x300 in an IWB bravo concealment holster. This pistol is fine for winter carry as I always have a jacket on and it doesn't print. Summer is coming up and I need something more compact, owning a fullsize mp my first thought is the mp40c. I have previously owned a glock27 and hated it. The recoil felt crazy and hurt my hands after 30 or so rounds ( insert Stop being a bitch joke here ). I tried to love the gun I really did but with such a small grip and the recoil impulse I struggled to control the pistol and had shit groupings.
All that being said would buying an mp 40c be a huge mistake like a Glock 27? Should I get the mp9c instead? |

I've been carrying my 40c, but I have to tell you my Shield 40 carries a *lot* easier. and this. M&Pc feel great, and you can grab a $15 grip extension and shoot your fullsize mags with the compact.. i love my compact, but i love my shield more. |

I would go with a 9c. I was in the same position as you, had a full size 40 so got a 40c to go along with it.
Overall I didn't like the 40 cartridge. Sold the full size and then sold the compact. I now have a full size 45, 9, 45c, 9c, and 9 Shield. The 9c shoots a lot smoother than the 40c. |

My .40c is for it's size the easiest shooting .40 I have used outside of my gen4 G23.
Having said that, both of my 9 compacts are the flattest shooting 9mms I have ever used, even over larger pistols. If I do not need a full size light on the gun, I usually carry a 9c. |

I have the 40 and 40c and have shot the Shield 40. Out of all of them the compact is my favorite and last one I'd part with.
I like the versatility of the gun, can go from very easy CCW to a bedside gun with a mag change and quickly throwing on a light. The recoil feels right about the same as the fs and the 40c is much nicer than the G27 recoil wise, I'd say on par with the G23. The palm swell feels slightly higher than the fs as well, with the same back straps in both the compact feels better in my hand. A great plus to the 40c over the 9c is buying a factory 9mm barrel and mags and being able to shoot both calibers. The ammo shortage really hit 9mm hard in my area but .40 stayed on the shelves for the most part. |
