SOOO.. I have a Shield .40... great gun.. love it to death.. tad snappy.. but my bitch wrists got used to it pretty quick. Its small, feels decent, and 100% reliable so far.

HOWEVER

I feel it is a little too small for me. I am not a large guy I'm 5'7" 167lbs. My hands are on the small side, but the gun just feels a little small to me. I don't believe its effecting my accuracy or my ability to handle the gun, its just a nagging in the back of my head that did not present itself immediately when I purchased it.

I recently purchased a MP9 full size and basically had an orgasm all over the gun when I first shot it (small backstrap) and have been using that as lub ever since. I was wondering how the MPc compares. No LGS have any for me to finger .. I was going to order one from quantico tactical but i wanted to get some input on it first. Is the grip similar to the full sized if you put the small backstrap on or medium or is it more like the shield?

Also, I have an Xdm.. I absolutely love it.. its 100% and is just as comfy as my MP.. the ONLY thing I do not like about it.. "Made in Croatia"...I do not know why.. anyone else feel this way? I just wish springfield would make the damn things in america and be done with it, then I could shoot it and not feel like I hate america.

The M&P9 and M&P9c are both double-stack and run off the same mags so they have very similar grips.  The 9c is my EDC and it's pretty much perfect for me since it's light and carries 13 rounds.  You'd be doing yourself a favor it you got one.

I agree with all of this but feel compelled to point out that the full size can't use the compact's magazines.
I know N4sty didn't mean to imply that, but that's how I read it.

With that said, buy the compact and an X-Grip for the full size M&P.
You will have a great carry gun that can hold 18 rounds when you can get away with the extra grip length.

I personally shoot my full size and compact equally well.

The grip angle is the same on the M&P 9c, just shorter.  Get the Talo edition.  It comes with one compact magazine, and one fullsize magazine with the grip adapter.  I bought the Talo, and I love it.

Would love to.. but to big for me to conceal easily especially during the summer. My fullsize is my training/shtf gun, part of my loadout. She rides in a drop leg when we go out. Hence why I would like to get a C.. but i want to finger one first.. since noone has one to finger.. I needed some help with the decision to buy one.

Get one!

It will "fill" the hand the same, just shorter. If you put the finger extender on the mag it will feel VERY close to the full size.

Also, if you're trying to decide between the 40 and the 9. I would recommend to do what I did.. Buy the 40c (all same dimensions as the 9mm). Then buy a Factory Smith and Wesson 9mm compact barrel and 9mm compact mags... They all just drop right in. Now you basically have 2 guns, one .40 and one 9mm.

Just my 2 cents

The double stack M&P 9C feels closer to the M&P FS than the Shield, especially with the pinky magazine base plate extension. The M&P 9C is the smallest gun I am comfortable carrying and prefer at least a G19 size gun.
