I have done the same thing with both of my M&P 's.
One inner tube lasts a l-o-o-o-n-g time. If you want the rubber to be even stickier, work some hand lotion into your hands and then work the residual lotion from your hands onto the rubber grip. I use Aquaphor. Talk about getting a great grip on the gun !!! Seriously. Give it a try. You will be surprised how well it works. |

learn to stipple yourself. it is a helpful skill to have http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b28/evnash/Guns/shield3.jpg That doesn't look bad. I'd be afraid that I would botch it up. Does the sautering iron move through the polymer easily or are you having to scrape the stippling into the frame, so to speak? |
| Looks comfy. One thing to note though is if you are using this for CC that rubber grip is going to catch on your clothing and as your body moves the clothing will not move with it and you will print. I think doing a little bit of strategic stippling is a better solution. |

I agree with you on the stippling being better for CC. I haven't decided yet on my method of carry/holsters yet, but shirt will definitely stick to it. I have a Taurus 85ti that I carry now with the factory rubber grips and printing hasn't been a problem with it when carrying Mexican style, but I believe I will go another route with the Shield. Evnash has got me thinking of a possible attempt to stipple now that I see what a good job he did on his. I'm going to have to research this now |

I put an inner tube on my Shield when I first got it. The stock grip seems a bit narrow in the palm area, and the inner tube filled it out a little better. I haven't had any problem with it sticking on clothing.
If you want to stipple your gun, have at it. I've seen some quality jobs that looked right, and worked perfectly too. I just think alot of people overdo it and it looks like shit. Some folks seem to just go crazy with the iron in their hand and stipple every milimeter of plastic. I think less is more in the case of home stippling. |
