After trying a Glock, after trying an XDM, I got an M&P. Then I got another M&P.
The Glock and at least one of the XDMs will be moving on. My first M&P, a full size 9MM had a terrible trigger. First day at the range it took two finger to pull the trigger, no shit, right hand trigger finger on the trigger, left hand trigger finger on top of the right hand trigger finger. I still kept checking to see if the safety was on. The next day the trigger stopped working unless I pulled it hard to the right down low on the trigger. An APEX trigger kit took care of that. M&P#2, a full size .40 S&W has pretty decent trigger right out of the box. It will stay stock. No creep and a very noticeable trigger reset which I really like. |

To answer the OP's question,
I've stippled four M&Ps now, as well as various other things (rifle components mostly), and have had great results from a wood burning iron from wallyworld. The most important thing is to get something where you can grip it as close to the tip as possible for the best control. Also, I'd suggest using one of your other backstraps to practice on first. Once you get something you like, go for it on the actual gun. |

I HIGHLY recommend the Apex Tactical DCAEK and RAM kits. It makes the trigger a thing of beauty. AS far as sights go, I'm planning on getting the XS sights - I really like the simplicity of the sight picture and the tritium is dang bright.
ETA: Apparently it helps to read first saw that you had one on order. |

I just got a M&P40 myself. Haven't had a chance to shoot it but it feels great! I'll agree with you on the trigger, mine feels like it's full of kitty litter. Definitely the worst trigger of any gun I've shot. How do you like the Apex kit? Oh, and congrats on the gun |
