I think I owned one of those years ago. I guess it could have been a different S&W
I bought a 1000 rd case of ammo because I expected the trigger to smooth out some with use. Nope, started nasty, stayed nasty Don't know who it went to or what I traded it for but it is one of about 5 guns I have ever sold. Don't miss it one bit |

is that screw in the safety factory
Nice pistol thanks, and yes that screw is straight factory from S&W I'd have to find a different one to replace that It's the first thing that caught my eye in the second pic.My 645 was stolen and recovered minus the right side safety. When I contacted S&W for a replacement, they sent me one just like that. |

Just seems odd, maybe because I look at and carry this everyday. http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/ii81/dphill15/001.jpg That's a 3rd Generation pistol. 659 & 645 are 2nd Generation pistols. |
| The 659 is built like a tank. I owed a 539 that I shot over 40,000 rounds through it and purchased it used I wore out the hammer and sear would only fire double action only. Replaced the two parts and it was like new. I dumped it 4006. Much more snap in the recoil than a 9 but also a tank. Dumped it and went back to a 9mm this time a 659. I have about 20,000 rounds through it with no issues. They will last for sure. The big Phillips screw is normal and you will have no issues with it. |
