All the gunshops local to me are sold out, with no eta on stock. Anyone know who got one in 9 mm this will be for off duty carry

Same here (Ohio).  One shop will place a back order if you pay up front in full, and they don't even know when they'll come in.
I may just go ahead and do that.  There are some listed for auction on gunbroker.com

I got lucky at sportsmans warehouse but I'm not sure they have those where you are. Check with the big name stores, I've only seen them here at cabelas and sportsmans warehouse, even the s&w dealers and LE shops don't have them. I've got the shield 40 and it's worth the hassle.

When I got my 40 they were easy to get, I put my name on the waiting list and got a call two days later saying it was in.

The 9mm is a different story. I'm number five on a waiting list, and I've been on it for almost three months, and I'm still waiting.

I just got two shield 40s last week from shedhorn sports from somewhere in montana. They told me they get them in regularly. Ask for Chase.

in Northern Ohio, Standard Law is the S&W L.E. dealer.  I was told a few weeks ago that they ordered 40 of them, some in 9, some in 40.
I don't know if they came in yet.  I have to go pick up some stuff from them, I will ask if any came in.  They did have a .40 demo gun in the store.

What I don't understand is that they shut down for two weeks back in July, now I hear that they have been working around the clock since.

If that's the case, why aren't any shields showing up anywhere?    It seems like they should be able to turn out a few hundred a day working around the clock?

Every dealer that I've spoken to within 150 miles of me has stated that they haven't seen any in over 3 months?

Thats the thing I don't understand. They're probably doing it to keep them in demand.

No dude, the demand is there. They're not intentionally holding back production, that would simply cost them revenue.

Picked up a .40 sheild today. Gun shop said there getting 50 of each ( .9mm and .40) every week and there gone within 48 hours. My test round was dated 9/18 and the guy said they arrived in the shop that morning.  Can't wait to go shoot mine!

S&W shut down to retool and recalibrate their machines. But I guess you want out of spec guns.

All I said about that was the fact that they shut down for two weeks, a lot of company's do that. my POINT was, if they are working around the clock and extra shifts. Why aren't dealers getting any shipments?

Your statement makes no sense...companies are in business to make money...SW is losing money if they would follow your "logic" since they would be limiting production.

I must be lucky because I just started looking/researching for a shield and put my name on a waiting list for a gun shop I visit...I added my name to the waiting list on Thursday and the shop called me the following Tuesday, saying my 9mm shield was available.  The shop had a few shields in 9/40, so shields are out there and not every gun shop is looking to get more than MSRP.  I know GB always have crazy prices...I paid $409 for my shield.

Took three months to get mine but well worth the wait just put 200 rounds through her tonight for fun.  Every time I shoot it I am happy with the wait it was well worth it.

If you don't mind me asking, were you able to buy it at a decent price, or did your dealer charge you MSRP as one of my local dealers is trying to do?

My dad just picked one pm for my wife as a gift and paid MSRP.    .  It was the last one.

I started out by calling a few local shops and got the same answer most of you guys did.   I went online and found one in stock at the second LE distributor's website that I looked at.

It shipped from Texas a few days latter and was delivered to my FFL for $399 shipped.

Wife shooting hers for the first time this afternoon.

Nice gun.  Less felt recoil for her than my Glock 26.   It fit her hand much better, and she shot it REALLY well.  I think I may need one now too.  Being so thin, it would be much easier to carry IWB than my G26.

Shield 9 with Trijicon HDs.  Thanks Shed Horn!!!

Just kidding.  I got this at a shop in Jacksonville FL.  I FUCKING HATE this shop, but they had it and I wanted it.  Paid MSRP ($449).  If anyone is local, the name of the shop rhymes with Hooters, but there's no hot waitresses, only a bunch of fat fucks that think they are the only people on earth that know anything about guns (even though they don't know shit).  I would like to publicly thank them for taking time out of their busy schedule to hand me the gun and take my money.  I was honored to participate in the transaction.  Fucking douchebags.  Oh well, I got it and it's a great piece so far.  I put in an Apex hard sear I had laying around and disabled the thumb safety by grinding off the tab on the inside.  The lever is still there but it will fire regardless of the lever's position.

Hmmm, I was thinking about the Trijicon HDs for a couple of my pistols, but now I am not sure. That rear sight reminds me of the fins on a 50s era Caddy, lol. I like the front sight, and maybe it is just the angle of the pics, but it seems like that rear sight really sticks up / out.

They are a little higher profile than some other night sights.  I like that on a defensive gun for doing one handed slide manipulations off a belt, table, etc.  I prefer taller sights overall because they seem to be easier to pick up in my line of sight also.  If you need something low profile you should probably look at the HDs in person before you buy.

I don't mind tall sights, its just that rear looks like it has a pretty sharp edge on the top. I could see myself landing my elbow on it every time I put my arm to my side.

No shame in that, especially when MSRP+ is the standard right now.  I bought both calibers this past month and paid MSRP, no regrets.
