In case you don't know, you can also buy full size mags and get the X-Grip for them. I shot 50 or 100 rounds with one and I really, really liked it. I was concerned a little bit before I bought the X-Grip because if you look close in the pictures of a regular M&P FS (4.25) and a M&P9C with the X-Grip on, the angle on the bottom is a little different. Well I couldn't tell the difference at all when I was shooting it. So you always have that option. That Apex Tactical FSS & Trigger is also very, very nice. Had it on my M&P9L (why did I sell it??) and had mine set to 3.0 lbs. or so (you can set them to 5.0 lbs., or maybe 5.5 lbs. now for all I know) I would personally polish the internal parts to make the trigger smoother though. You can with the right training carry even the FSS & Trigger I think, I personally would not feel comfortable at my level right now, but I know within 2+ months I could be (don't have CCW or trained with holster yet). After holding and pulling the trigger on a PPQ and noticing the very short trigger reset, which is .1" then don't see why the FSS & Trigger would be a problem set at 4.0 lbs. on up for most people. I'd still do 3.0 lbs. or less, only because of my hands though. Shot my friends SA 1911 .45 and my trigger with FSS & Trigger was just a little bit better than his middle of the road SA 1911 (~$900). Granted with aftermarket parts you could make the 1911 have an even better trigger. For the money even with the $168 FSS kit your still saving a lot of money over a 1911. I say sell a few of your 1911's, but you have to keep one 1911 though. I am waiting for Grant from G&RTactical to come out with the Storm Lake custom fitted barrels (for sub 1" groups out to 25 yrds) and then purchase a new M&P9 from him and have him install it. Then I think I might wait this time for the plastic trigger Apex is coming out with, even though I really like the Aluminum. I assume their going to make it nice and strong so shouldn't be too much difference, expect for the cost savings. |
