| I'm thinking of picking up a new J frame, either a 442 or 642. I prefer black but want the durability of stainless. I think I've heard that the current 442 cylinder is actually blackened stainless, can anyone confirm or dispell this? What about the barrel and/or the other parts? Also any other reason to get the 442 Pro over the standard beyond no lock and being cut for moon clips? |
I bought a 642 (no-lock) for a similar reason... I wanted the best materials/protection. I take care of my guns, but that one had some pitting on the cylinder (couple small marks). Haven't used the pistol in awhile, so I decided to have the gun done in NP3 Plus (did my Remington 870P, as well).
Most of the scroll work was hidden, which I didn't care about (they had to redo the serial number to make sure it was visible). But I'm happy, and I know it will last longer than I will. |
