Hello,
After creating this thread http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=5&f=4&t=108521 I decided to go with two s&w 19-4s instead of one HK P30.  Pawn shop marked them down to $350 each, i came out paying $300 each or $650 for both after tax.

I have a question in regards to the trigger/hammer on the 6" model compared to the 4" model.  I noticed while shooting yesterday that the 6" has a noticeably smoother trigger than the 4", and the 6" has an extra wide hammer and trigger.  The 4" trigger and hammer have a constant width, while the 6" flares out is is about twice as wide at the grippy parts.  Can anyone explain why the triggers and hammers are different, and why the 6" gun has a smoother trigger than the 4"?  I was wondering if the previous owner got a trigger job on the 6" and not the 4" or something.

6" trigger.  notice has the trigger widens where the finger rests; more vertical lines at the finger.

4" trigger.  constant width

4" gun

first 5 round group from 15 yards using the 4", shot double action

some rust/pitting on 6" gun

first 4 round group from 15 yards using the 6", i had one misfire, i shot it again later in the day, and it went bang.  also shot double action

the single action pull on both is amazing; puts my RIA 1911 to shame

Your 6in has the S&W Target hammer and trigger. My 4in 19-2 is the same and I love it. Have you measured the trigger pull? For me, DA is about 9lbs, and SA is 2.5lbs.

thanks for the reply.  no sir, i don't have a trigger scale handy.  i'm not used to shooting revolvers; the s&w double action feels like butter compared to various semi-auto double actions.  i like the target hammer+trigger too
