I came across a 3913 for sale with only 100 rounds through it. The gun looks incredible from the pictures. Is $450 too much for this. It comes in the original carboard S&W box with the 2 original magazines. All feedback is appreciated.

I like my 3913 alot. Some may say $450.00 may be a little much for any 3rd Generation Smith, but it is the best of the 3rd Generation Smith's in my opinion.  It is a great carry gun (hell, I carried mine in uniform as my duty gun).  I've said this before, I think the 3913 is just the right size gun (as is the Sig 225 and 239, again in my opinion).  Fits most hands well, reasonably thin, 8+1 capacity, and a good DA/SA trigger.  $450 may seem high, but if I had to replace mine, I would spend that much to replace it with a model in the condition you describe.

Thanks for the input.

BTW, if you get one and plan on loading it with 1 in the chamber and a full 8 in the magazine, a fully loaded mag can be really stiff to insert into the pistol.

Also, some like the factory grip, I didnt care for it as it was a little to straight for my taste, but mine wears Houge rubber grips and I have a set of wood Houge grips that I use to put on it for special occassions.  The Houge puts the rear of the grip out at an angle and helps if the factory grip isnt to your liking.

If you dont get alot of input from your post here, check gunbroker or some of the other on-line auction sites for current asking prices on the gun to see if your comfortable with the price your looking at.

Thanks. Gunbroker had a 3913LS for $599 which I thought was very high, just the gun, one magazine, and the pouch they included with it.

No, it is NOT too high to pay. That is one of the best carry guns ever made, and they are long out of production. Buy it, you will not regret it. I never experienced the full mag being hard to load problem.

IMO, the 3913 is WORTH that. But, you can often find them for less. I think I paid $300 for mine.

<––––––––––––––––––––- has a 3913 on his hip as he types this.

The seller is local and I am going to look at it today. The seller sent me about 20 pictures of it broken down and it looks brand new, but he says he fired 100 rounds through it. Looks like a good deal to me. I've seen a few others on different auction sites, but they were not this nice. Thanks for all the feedback.

If it matters, it would take at least $450 to get me to sell mine, and I probably wouldn't sell it for that.

I had one many years ago and regret selling it. I used the money to buy a SIG P226. I'm glad I have the Sig, but have always wanted to get another 3913.

I prefer the 3953 but the 3913 is still very awesome and the price seems reasonable.  I'm looking at one a local dealer has and he's asking $475.00.

Those things go fast at the shows.  Price is about average in today's market.

I've missed on several over the years.

It was also my first Duty weapon ever issued too becuase armorer did not have anything besides revolvers and Glocks were all issued out. I only traded for a G19 for higher capacity, but regretted it for awhile..I doubt I would carry it for CCW, still kind of heavy for that kind of weight I would go with something in double stack with same weight or less..

I do remember it being reliable

My 3913 with 8 rounds is a bit lighter than my Glock 19 with 15 rounds. It's not a lot lighter, but it is lighter. And smaller.

I've often seen them cheaper, but $450 is probably reasonable for one in great shape like that.

I prefer (and bought) the DAO version, the 3953, but both are great CCW guns IMO.

My 3914 has been perfect from day one. $450 sounds good for that gun.

Do the 3913NLs command a higher price?
