I took my 642 to the range today to shoot some reloads and I got home and took the crane off to clean some lead off the cylinder face but when I put it back on the face of the star is suddenly binding on the breech face when I try to close it.
there is nothing trapped under the star and I do not flip my cylinder shut so I have no idea what could be the issue... HELP! for pics click here |

Since you've already got it fixed, there's not much point in me posting this, but...there is almost always something under the extractor when that happens. You may have to get a flashlight and stare at it for ten minutes, but it's there. The only time I've had a similar problem and it wasn't caused by junk under the extractor....the extractor star itself had come loose from the piece that the ejector rod screws into. Took me hours to figure out WTF was wrong with that gun. |
