| Damn, a month after moving to Hawaii and 3 of 4 M&P45 mags have rust all over them! In my night stand! Never had a problem even spending a year in the garage on texas. How can I prevent this? Constant heavy oil? You'd think smith would have use a more rust resistant finish |

Way back had a few old GI 1911 mags that ran 110% but were VERY succeptible to rust. I tried oil...that collected lint and dirt. Finally degreased them and gave them a good coating of Johnson Paste Wax...oft used for furniture...worked fine. Still use JPW on gun stocks, metal on hunting rifles/shotguns...great stuff. Regular car wax like turtle wax would probably be OK too.
Or...A light coating of RIG rust preventative grease. OR..have them refinished with one of the new super finishes? FN in MT |
