Finally got the new RAM installed last night in my M&P9 and all I can say is WOW! At this point I can't think of anything that will make the M&P trigger better than this. I'm sure Randy and the guys over at Apex will try, but it's pretty damn close to perfect with the Apex parts installed IMO.
If you have an M&P and are unhappy with the trigger I highly recommend you take a look at Apex Tactical and try the DCAEK+RAM combo. The only way I can describe it is take a 1911 trigger and stick it in a polymer striker fired gun.

Oh man, I just ordered both tonight, I can't wait to drop those things in.

I'm not certain if I'd say it's as nice as a good 1911 trigger... but I'm thrilled with the DCAEK + RAM combo in my 9c.

Spectacular trigger now with positive reset.  In my mind, best polymer frame trigger I own (Have Glock, HK and other tupperware guns to compare too... they are nice, Apex just trumps em IMHO)

I really wish Smith would offer a "stock" Apex Tac M&P modded pistol.  Would be a boon for LEO duty carry issues of having "aftermarket" "unauthorized" "modifications" in their weapons. (Mainly say this as rumor mill at my dept is putting a full size M&P in my duty holster of unknown caliber in the next few years...)

I have heard from some usually reliable sources in LE that S&W is, in fact, making some positive changes to the M&P trigger system to improve it for issue use in agencies where no aftermarket parts are allowed. I know of at least two agencies that went Glock rather than M&P based mostly on the very mushy reset of the M&P 45f guns they tested. Time will tell I suppose, but if they are as serious about taking Glock's market share away as they say they are, those triggers must be addressed.

I bought an M&P 45 and own a Glock 20 10mm. The M&P grip is superior but at the cost of mag capacity. Even so, a 5" M&P 10mm would be awesome!

Does Apex put the disclaimer for the Comp AEK because of the lighter trigger? Or is there a safety concern of dropping and the sear disengaging? I have a 3.5 Ghost Trigger in my G19 and love it. I feel confident in the lighter trigger not being an issue in a high stress situation. But the Glock's striker isn't in the ready position all the time like the M&P.

I just picked up a 45 and the only thing I don't like is the trigger. But I am not sure that a 5.5lb trigger is going to be enough of a drop to make it worth the expense for the DCAEK. Seeing as the stock trigger is 6.5.

Stock trigger for .45s is 8.5lbs.

I read in a gun review that said 6.5. But I believe the 8.5. Its heavy. I guess cutting down to 5.5 would be a huge improvement, but my 3.5 Glock trigger is perfect IMHO.

Remember, there's a striker block that has to be pushed out of the way by the trigger bar before the striker can move forward and hit a primer.  This requires the trigger being deliberately pulled.  Even if the sear disengages from the striker if the gun were to be dropped, the striker is locked into place by the safety block.  You get about 1.5 seconds of "Oh shit!" running through your mind before you reach down, pick up the gun, and get on with your day.

LOL. Ya after I posted I thought about the firing pin block. Just trying to figure out why they would post competition only because the trigger is lighter. My finger is my safety and I don't see how 2lb difference would be a safety issue in a proper holster. Although stress might be a factor on finger control.

I agree, so much that I sold my last Glock and bought a Compact for carry that will be filled with the same combo

I just installed them ram on my m&p9 and the reset feel is much improved.  I previously had the hardened sear and ultimate striker block installed.  I love this gun more every time I install a new part in it.  I will try to get to the range tomorrow to see how the RAM does.

For those interested the USB and Hard Sear only work great. I see no need for a Comp or Carry spring. Wish I had a pull gauge, but it feels nice with very little over travel. Maybe 1/16" over travel.

Well my DCAEK kit is in route. Should have it Monday.

I have the RAM installed, I think I will try the DCAEK with the stock spring and see how I like it.

Is the reset much more forceful with the RAM?

To me, yes it seems to be a much more audible and forceful reset.

That was going to be my question, if you can keep the original trigger spring in the gun since the Apex trigger spring increases trigger pull a little bit. I've got my DCAEK and Ram coming this week.

Has anybody else done this and what do you think?

Well I did. I went yesterday to the range with the stock trigger spring. My .45 has the Apex spring installed in it, the 40 I left the stock one in.

I did not care for the stock spring in the 40. While it broke crisp, it felt "mushy" until it broke. it was lighter. Lighter than I like.

I replaced it with the Apex spring when I got home. While it's heavier pull, about 5-5.5lbs, it's a consistent pull, without being mushy.

Ok sounds reasonable, I might have to try it with both and see what it feels like.

Ok have a dumb question...the DCAEK came with two sear springs...which one did you use? I didn't see it mentioned in the apex video anywhere about what one does better than the other.

I guess what's the difference between the sear springs is what I'm getting at?

Pull your sear block plunger out and replace it with the same size spring that is already in there.

I just got the DCAEK for my birthday, which was the 29th. And I have to say that even though I bought it, it was the best present I received. I installed it, only had a little trouble getting the rear sight off. But I figured it out. I haven't had a chance to go shoot it, but just feeling the trigger pull made me pretty much jizz in my pants. Now, I'm definitely getting the ram after hearing about it.
