Hey everyone,
I bought an APEX sear and the USB plunger + spring for my S&W M&P9L.. I first installed the sear which made the trigger pull slightly lighter, crisper, shorter reset. Then I installed the USB kit and it smoothed the trigger pull out 100x better than stock. Between these two, the trigger is night and day better. Easy installation, I dinged up my rear sight a little punching it out, but hopefully I can find something to cover that up.. I am sure most people already know APEX sears and kits are awesome.. but I figured I would post my experience as another +1 for APEX. |
| I recently ordered an M&P 9mm w/ thumb safety, from G&R Tactical. I opted to have it equipped with the Apex sear, Apex striker block, and Apex competition striker spring. For $30 more, I had the Apex goodies polished, installed, and tuned by G&R. The resulting trigger is very nice, and excels anything I've seen on a striker fired pistol of any make, even modified ones. It looks very likely that M&P pistols will be my new thing. |

How hard is to install the APEX sear? It took me about 45 minutes. I went very slow. It was easy. I had never worked on any pistol before this. Just watch the youtube video a couple of times before you start and take your time. Do it yourself. It will be far more rewarding than paying someone else to work on it. |

How hard is to install the APEX sear? The grip-removal tool doubles as a perfectly sized punch.. I put my frame on the kitchen counter and gave it 3 or 4 good wacks and it started sliding out. Take out the sear assembly, swap sears, put back in carefully, done. The peices are all really small but nothing about it was difficult. The rear sight was honestly a bitch to get off, I milled out a little peice of alluminum to fit perfectly as a punch and hit it with a hammer.. The whole process was about 30 minutes. IMO This is how the trigger should feel from the factory.. it is honestly perfect for a HD/SD/Duty gun. I am going to pick up another M&P9L and get the APEX competition package I think.. |
| I have done 4 sears and one complete kit. The first sear took me 20 minutes. Now I can swap a sear in 5 minutes if at my bench. Anyone can do it if they have the right punch and something heavy to hit it with. The complete duty kit was a bit more involved but also something anyone could do with the same punch and hammer. |
| Apex makes good stuff, but their sear I got made for too light a trigger pull for CCW. Perhaps around 2.5 pounds on mine. On this type of weapon with no manul safety, foregetaboutit. My own trigger jobbed sear worked out much better at around 6 pounds, little takeup and the reset is like a well-tuned 1911. I've gone back and forth with the sears multiple of times and probably will a bunch more, but as for now I just can't keep theirs in. Wish my XDm trigger assembly was as easy to work with. |

Are you sure its 2.5#'s? only way to be sure is with a trigger gauge |

Mine came in at 4.8 pounds and if anything I wouldn't mind a tiny bit lighter.. but I also have a disciplined trigger finger. |
