Gentlemen,
I have a question. I have a 92FS with standard 15-round magazines. I see 17 round magazines for the 90-TWO that still fit the 92FS. I assume they are flush-fit, is that correct? If so, how do they squeeze the extra 2 rounds in? Are the walls thinner? Where does the extra space come from? Thank you, mark |

Mecgar is also making some springs now that taper down in size, so the next coil is smaller than the previous one, allowing the spring to compress into a smaller overall length as coils don't "stack" on top of each other, but compress inside the previous coil. I believe some car springs use the same princple. And as others said, shorter follower.
BTW- the 90TWO magazines do protrude slightly out of the bottom of a 92 magwell. Just enough of a gap that you'll feel it with your pinky finger. Less than 1 mm. |

They are the same length as the 11 round 96 magazines... which need a little taller base to make up the gap between the frame and base. If you put a standard 15 rounder base on one (10 rounders, both 9mm and .40, use the 15 rounder bases), there is a gap. They are not truly extended, since the base is still flush with the gun. I had to call up BerettaUSA to get the 11 rounder bases, and even the guy there thought it was stupid to have such a small difference that can result in shabby fitting due to people not knowing. Beretta doesn't really do a good job at marking which bases go with what magazines, either. It is all in how the spring compresses. The newer magazines are more like Glock springs, which are narrow at the top and wider at the bottom. MecGar has been putting similar ones out for years, which can fit 18 rounds in their flush-fit magazines. |
