I am looking at picking up a Beretta 92F or a Beretta 92FS in the near future but can't decide which to get. Both are used and the FS is about $50-$100 more.
I don't plan to carry this gun but who knows. Which one should I go for? Thank you in advance. CSP |

Check them both for a cracked slide or cracked locking block.
If good, buy the 92F,,,its less expensive The 92F was the original series, when you crack the slide it can exit the rear of the pistol and smack you in the lip. The 92FS was a modified 92F. Added a round disk to the hammer pin, which rides in a cutout in the slide. This catches the slide if it breaks, not allowing it to exit the pistol. The M9 used to be like the 92F,,,,now the M9 is like the 92FS. |

Quoted:
FS. It has been beefed up in the slide vs the S which minimizes the frame cracking problem that was found during the early days of the military adoption of the M9. Actually, the slide is identical with the exception of the cutout in the rear for the "FS" hammer pin to fit. The original cracking problem is related to the first design of the locking lug. That being said, I would also choose the FS. |
