How hard are they to maintain? I have always wondered how often you have to
take the slide apart, and from the looks of it you have to start whacking out pins to not only gey the extractor out but also to remove the safety. Isk this also true of the lower reciever? I would be coming from a Glock into one of these and it just seems like the Glock is way easier to take apart and to maintain. |

Well the only reason I'm considering the switch is because
I'm back in the military again and this is the pistol I will be issued, along with a M240G,so I would like to get to know the Beretta from inside out. Also to be poficent at shooting and maintaining this weapon. |
|
I bought my 92 for the same reason - familiarity with my issue weapon. 1 week a year on the range with it just didn't seem enough. I quickly realized that I hate the way that pistol feels in my hands and once you learn the gun, you know it.
For me, shooting often keeps my where I need to be as far as proficiency even if I don't use the Beretta. ETA: As far as maintaining it, what level of maintenance will you be authorized to perform? The normal field strip, clean and lube is so simple a kid could do it. |
|
Check out these videos and you won't think it's so hard to detail strip a 92.
Normal fieldstrip, clean and lube should be good for thousands and thousands of rounds. |

92 maintenance is easy but why in the world would you switch from a Glock to a Beretta. Perhaps he wants a gun with a soul? I'd put my 92FS against a Glock for accuracy & reliability 8 days a week. I can bust clays on a dirt bank (and have!) from 50 yards. |

| As a known Glock fan here, I will say I agree with you completely on the "no soul" comment. I'm a Glock user, but a big fan of other handgun types. I don't particularly enjoy shooting Glocks, but they fit my carry needs well (especially the G26). In fact, my very favorite handgun to shoot is the 92fs/M9. |

| Beretta's are great guns, just shoot and clean and it will last forever. The only reason to go into a detail strip is if you want to upgrade the trigger or do something custom, or if you are just bored and curious, ha. But yeah for regular maintenance like most guns, just field strip the gun. |
| Hey Beretta know-it-alls. If, for peace of mind reasons, I wanted to install the Wolff ILS trigger return spring system in my new Italian 92fs with the plastic trigger, do I need to order only the ILS itself and a steel trigger, or do I need any more parts than these two? |
