We have a customer in need of some M9 mags for their unit that is going to deploy soon.
I've heard that most of the weapon malfunctions are magazine induced...Y/N???

OEM mags best??

All assitance welcome.
Thanks, Cliff @ Go Time Gear

OEM or Mec-Gar mags would be best, yes. Older Checkmate mags without the anti-stick coating on the inside of the mag body is what they wish to avoid. These were what caused all the problems on the earlier go round in the sandbox.

Good luck!

The newer Mec-Gar AFC mags are the best mags, hands down, for the M9.

I recommend the 18rd mags for concealed carry and for mag pouches where clearance is a concern.  Otherwise, roll with the extended 20rd mags.

I stick with "PB" or "MDS" mags.  They are relatively cheap anyway, which is one of the advantages of using a Beretta.

I am a big fan of original equiptment Beretta magazines.
Here is what to look for;

Magazine on left is standard M9 OEM magazine, note smoot side walls, matte finish, aluminum follower and baseplate, 3 witness holes in back, made from formed seamless tubing.
Still a good, well made magazine and makes Checkmate look like crap when compared against them.

Center is the Beretta response to magazine issues from the field reports.
Note full length cartridge centering ribs on magazine body, smooth, heavily blued, seamless magazine body with three witness holes, high stress impact resistent polymer floorplate and follower.
These are apparently the replacement magazines Beretta makes for the Italian Carabineri as they have the bottom magazine catch cut-out for use in older 92S pistols as well as the side buttom 92F cutout for use with all newer versions.
These work great in all conditions but must have ticked somebody off in the supply chain with that strange hole in the bottom of the magazine so,,,,

Now we have the magazine on the right, all the features of the center magazine WITHOUT the pesky bottom catch hole and a newer, better?!, hard ceramic finish coat that is supposed to be resistent to everything including nuclear blast while continuing to provide a smooth, self lubricating, no-binding feed cycle regardless of climactic conditions.
OK these are extremely good magazines, best I have ever used in a 92/M9 pistol but also near twice the price of regular M9 magazines.
I THINK the magazine springs are also ceramic coated chrome silicone, they sort of look like they are but i am not a metallurgist, speculation only here.
If you want the absolute best, have your guys buy three of these for each pistol issued.

My favorite is the center magazine because you never know when you might come across some dude packing one of those Egyptian made 92S pistols, these fit and function fine in those guns too.HTH

I agree with the above.
If I were going into harms way with my 92FS, I would bring one Mecgar 20rd mag for in the pistol carry, and four 15rd PB sand resistant mags in the Bianchi mag pouch.
I wouldn't count out the Checkmate mags...I bought 5 when they were for sale cheap on the EE a few months ago. They were NIW parkerized, and have worked great for me. Several have been loaded since I bought them, and they still work great.

"PB" or "MDS" factory mags only (Mec-Gars are not OEM for Beretta).  I prefer the hi-gloss blue or ceramic sand resistant mags.

MDS, Mec Gars and Factory are best

Actually there is nothing wrong with the issued magazine, I used airtonics––the current mfg-in the sandbox and they worked just fine.

Back at home I bought a bunch from CDNN and have been using them for 3 gun, 1k rds no jams.

The older checkmate mags were fixed in 2/05, refinished and issed back out, but I would never use a checkmate mag; too many bad memories.
