I've got an old 92S I bought in the early '80's and I want to get a new magazine. This pistol has the mag release button on the lower left of the grip. Other than drilling a hole in the side of a new mag for the release, does anyone have any ideas?

There are correct mags out there. Look for some Taurus mags. I have never tried them, but they look right. I was lucky and found a spare at a gun show and got it right, because no one wanted it.

The latest batch of MDS mags I bought from CDNN have the holes for both the S and the F/FS.  The holes for both were only on the 15 round mags.  The MDS 20 round mags only have holes for the F/FS.  MDS is owned by Beretta and makes all the factory mags.

Call CDNN and ask to be sure what they have.

If worse comes to worse, I can trade you a couple of my mags that have S/FS holes for new MDS mags with FS holes.  I have no plans of getting an S.  I don't know how many I can cover, but if you only need a couple spares just order the MDS from CDNN and see what comes in.  If they'll work on the S, great.  If they only work on the FS let me know and we can swap.  I'll count up what I have that will work on the S.

Either way, you won't need to do any kind of cutting or going some other short-cut.

Thanks for the tip on CDNN. I see the release hole in the pic and will order some this week. I've also got a 92F, so I can use them even if they don't fit. I'll talk to CDNN to verify, though. Thanks again.

Is that what the notch in the bottom right side of the MDS mags is for?

All current Italian PB and MDS mags have both notches. I can't speak for the US-made PB mags, as I don't have any. My only non-Italian mags are USGI (Airtronic?) mags, which do not have the bottom release notch.
