Beretta missed out on us on this one. Wife has needed a carry gun for over a year now and we just couldn't wait any longer, broke down and bought a g26.

I don't think I'll be buying any beretta pistols anytime soon as a result of this...

BERETTA PX4 STORM SUB-COMPACT PISTOL ON ITS WAY!

Deliveries on the new Beretta PX4 Storm Sub-Compact Pistol scheduled to begin
June 1, 2008.

ACCOKEEK, MD (May 20, 2008) — Beretta USA is pleased to announce that deliveries for the introduction of the most advanced Sub-Compact sidearm of its kind – the Px4 Storm Sub-Compact pistol will begin June 1, 2008.  Built around Beretta's latest Px4 Storm modular technology, the Px4 Storm Sub-Compact delivers concealed carry handling with large frame firepower.

This new firearm is available in two calibers, 9mm with 13 round magazine capacity and .40 S&W with 10 round magazine capacity.  The Px4 Storm Sub-Compact will eventually be available in all the traditional configurations (F, G, C, D actions) that have made its Px4 Storm full-size counterpart a preferred choice of Law Enforcement agencies and civilians across the United States. This new pistol uses a very reliable locked breech, providing a more compact and lighter weight system.  Additionally, the Px4 Storm Sub-Compact utilizes a stainless steel barrel which requires less maintenance and is corrosion resistant, making it perfectly suited for concealment close to active perspiring bodies.

“We know that our customers have been very anxious to get this new Px4 Sub-Compact model into their inventory.  Beretta is now very pleased to be able to fulfill that request,” said Gabriele DePlano, Vice President of Product Development at Beretta USA.

Hailed by some as the most accurate Sub-Compact pistol on the market, the Px4 Storm Sub-Compact offers absolute reliability and consistent accuracy in a small package. Featuring a Picatinny rail to fit light and laser accessories, the Px4 Storm Sub-Compact also adapts to different hand sizes easily with interchangeable backstraps that are included with each firearm. The magazine's patented “Snap-Grip” allows for maximum concealability when the firearm is holstered, while providing a comfortable and secure grip when the pistol is being fired. An ambidextrous manual safety, ideally positioned on both sides of the slide for easy access by all shooters, and a low-profile slide catch complete this small yet powerful package. Additionally, a reversible magazine release button, in small or large size, can be mounted on either side for the convenience of the operator. The Px4 Storm Sub-Compact was designed by Beretta USA and will be manufactured in the United States at Beretta USA's Accokeek, MD facility.

Interesting.  I may have to go play with one.

I would probably be the same way, but my CHL has still not come in yet (sent in in Februaryhough
Plus, my "Economic Stimulus" check will be here soon, so I am going to stimulate Beretta USA with a purchase

I have been waiting for this.  I believe my 17 rd PX4 mags will work in this gun.  Correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm going to make some calls tomorrow and see what local asshat dealers have one coming in.

If it's as nice as the fullsize PX4, I'll be happy enough with one and I doubt it wouldn't be.

I believe it will work, probably not how you would want to carry it though I will be buying one of these as well as a Ruger LCP as soon as I get the money. Hurry up IRS...

Beretta's not going to change the lockup design or mag width on the SubCompact to be a mismatch with the fullsize PX4 mags. They'll fit, but they'll just be hanging out the bottom on the SC like any extended mag does on any other pistol or the CX4.

I've been calling, looking on GunBroker, and keeping my eye's open on the net for anyone with one, but it's a no go right now.
There suppose to be released but just haven't hit the shelves yet.

From what I hear right now they are filling all the back orders and contracts they have on this gun. I am slowly starting to not care about the SC....

I almost bought a 92FS Compact due to being impatient and looking at more mag commonality, but I'm glad I didn't win the auction now.
The 92FS Compact really isn't much smaller than a fullsize 92FS/M9.

The Sub-Compact PX4 is a true CCW weapon and I'm really not going to die if I don't get one tomorrow. I'll wait, but I still do hate manufacturer bullshit due date promises and slow delivery times.

You hate it! Imagine how I feel living in the state where Beretta manufactures, but, out of spite, they don't supply shell casings for the MD IBIS bill that their own legislator screwed them on. The only reason I was able to buy my Inox was because my local FFL was able to obtain, fire, and mail the MDSP a spent casing himself. Beretta supplies casings to most other states, but since their own legislator screwed them (and he tried and failed to get his district exempted after he realized his mistake in pissing off his constituents) they aren't too compliant with the law here in the Soviet Republic of MD.

The only reason I may be able to get a PX4 SC when they come out is because the SP here in MD now carry the PX4 and may want to buy sub-compacts to carry off-duty. That's assuming they don't use their LEO pull to obtain them instead of going to their local gun stores.

Can't for the life of me remember which MD delegate it was who screwed us so royally - can anyone help me out on that one? I'll check in my hometown forum, too.

God, I feel for you. I couldn't stand to deal with that and would move away. I have two sisters with their families living in New York and have asked me if I'd think about moving to New York someday. I just laughed and said "not a chance in hell and I wish you all would move closer to here where people respect the constitution and an individuals right to bear arms and protect themselves more".

HELL[ER] YEAH! My thoughts exactly. Though I think Heller's a step in the right direction, and also despite the fact that there are too many open doors for restriction and regulation ... you gotta admit - it's one damn fine excuse to go buy another gun.

Not that I needed an excuse!

BTW, anyone know what the "trigger finger memory indentation" is all about?

It's certainly is a good excuse even though I was going to buy it anyways and don't need to make excuses.

I agree, it's a step in the right direction with the Heller case, but there is still a long, hard road to go.
Some I feel need to go by by and aren't just are the restrictions on barrel length, stocks with shorter barreled action and fullauto capability.

The right to bear arms was not meant to limit us to the arms for defense of that time and is only reasonable that arms will advance and we should have just as much right to comparable weapons for defense that we could have to go up against.

One thing I'd like is to be able to have is a stock that replaces and fits around my Beretta's grip or is a one piece with the magazine coming out it's bottom that could simply be inserted to use it with a .22lr conversion and have a very handy compact .22lr survival rifle and one for the 9mm slide for a PDR conversion.

Not that I'm a huge purist or anything, but I like rotating barrel designs. My Cougar is fantastic with regards to reliability. To me, it is not a PX4 "subcompact" unless it shares the same operating system. That would be like rebadging the Focus as a Mustang LX or something.

That's funny!  Beretta is literaly giving those things to us! I would much rather carry the Sig that was in the runnng for the replacement.  Can you guess why we get stuck w/beretta?  How would it look for Beretta of the Maryland State Police didn't use a gun manufactured in MD?

I have one in the shop I work at in upstate NY. Awesome gun. Only one problem. Only the 9mm is avaliable now and it only comes with a 13 round mag so that kind of leaves us New Yorkers SOL. Our Beretta rep said he could get them to us as soon as we want. He also said the .40 should be out in a month of two and that it will have 10 round mags. I was never a fan of the .40 but it looks like I might end up owning a PX4 SC chambered in that round.
