The ones dated "may 04" or earlier were the ones that gave alot of problems and were recalled.  I'd avoid those.

Later production ones got rid of the phosphate coating inside, and some other problems.

The problem features were required by the milspec that CMi had to build to.  Once identified, CMi requested and was granted a variance to the milspec to build the later type mag.  

I think the current contractor is using the same version of mag as the later CMi's.

There's no sense in buying mags that you know suck, so avoid the ones recalled by the military (duh), but you should be fine with ones that are built after that.

No offense, but this has been beat to death in here.  

I used Checkmate mags for IPSC for years & NEVER had a single mag malfunction, not one.

Buy 'em, load 'em & shoot 'em, IMO.
