Is there a difference?  The frames seem to be a slightly different color on the Inox whereas the Stainless seems to be all one uniform color.  Is the frame on the Inox version not steel?  I've only seen pictures, so I'm not an expert by any means.

I'm considering another Beretta and not sure if I want a standard Italian model, another M9, or a full stainless one....

This will be a backup/spare Beretta since I love my first one so much.

Frame on the Inox is not steel. It is a finish chosen to match the stainless steel slide and barrel.

Step up to the plate with a Steel I

It's pretty.  Is the grip the same as the 92?  I like the "traditional" 92 grip better than the Vertec grip.

How does it compare to the 92 stainless?

Yes, the grip is the same as the Vertec's.

An Italian 92 stainless still uses the standard aluminum frame. Other than stainless controls and hard chromed parts on the frame there isn't much difference between it and a standard 92fs.

Met with a guy who had set up a Steel I right. Took out the adjustable trigger, nickel finish removed, Melonite like treatment, sent it off for a total system rework, etc.

Mhh, this is sounding more and more like a 1911. That aside, it was a dream to shoot. Perceived recoil was next to none and the gun looked brand new even though he said he'd shot "the stink" out of it.

ETA - If your after a steel frame than the Billenium and Steel I are the only game in town if I recall correctly.

Hmm... I think I'll get a second M9 as a backup then.

Steel is getting too expensive for me and farther away from what I really want -- as you said, it's getting more like a 1911
