FWIW, I've been using Check Mate mags for my IPSC matches this past year. They've run like shit thru a goose, not one single hiccup mag related.

Granted, TN ain't a sandbox. But for less than $20 each, they do just fine.

Just thought I'd pass this along...........................

thanks.  CMI has a bad name for Beretta mags as a result of the GW1 problems, but in reality CMI mags are great mags second only to MecGar and MDS for quality IMO

Newer CMI mags built after they fixed the problems supposedly work well.

The earlier ones were recalled, and many popped up on the market after that.  I think I'd pass on the early ones, and have no problem buying the new ones.

M16 mags have gone through several recalls at various times.  The same contractors will correct the problem and put out a spec product.

The military recalls stuff all the time, like aircraft parts, vehicle parts, rope, and even M9 slides.  It's the fastest and easiest way to replace defectvie equipment with sevicable stuff.

Defective stuff happens.  As long as the company has taken the proper corrective action, it shouldn't be a problem.

I have new and old style CM mags, all run 100%.  I think i have a total of 11 old style, and 4 new style.  I think the trick to the older ones is to take a brass brush soaked in CLP to the inside and out to smooth out the finish.  I did that when i first bought them cause they looked dirty because of the rough finish.  If you have old ones that are giving you problems, try that, and see if it helps...

They also work REALLY well if you send them to Robar and have the mag bodies and baseplate catches coated in NP3. They look pretty snazzy, too...

By the time one spends the extra $$$, they could've bought Beretta factory mags, IMO.............

+1  you can get brand new MDS and Mec Gar mags for >$20, without any need to do anything to them.  CMI mags are fine as they are, especailly for the price

True, but since I can't get stainless magazines for my Inox 92FS, NP3'd ones will have to do. Plus, these mags were free...

The new Check Mate mags work great.  The finish was changed and they went back to the alloy follower.  Sand was not a problem and they worked like they were suppose to.  They came out at the beginning of 05

Where can I get some Checkmate mags?

Well the ones we got in late 05 weren't any good.  The followers would bind, so you'd have a single shot M9.  We could have brought them home with us, but everybody trashed them, thanksfully.

I just recieved (2) Check-Mate mags today that I won on Gunbroker "dutch action" for $12.00 each.  One is dated 9/05 and the other 12/05.

I didn't know about this particular brand of mag until after making purchase.  I have not tried them yet but, at least the follower is NOT plastic.  Maybe these are some of the newer corrected design.

BUYER BEWARE!  I ordered some of the magazines from this company - which is advertising them using the Federal National Stock Number (NSN) of 1005 01 204 4376 which is correct for Govt M9 magazines - and received them yesterday.  Opened the package and guess what comes out? PROMAGS!!  Fired off an email to them and got a voicemail from one of their customer service reps this morning telling me that the mags are made in the USA and are made to US Govt specs.  She also said she would issue me a refund on the mags if I sent them back.  They're going back next Tuesday......
