I found it at a small gun counter in a large family owned hardware store.  Supposedly it was a Sig LE buy-back gun.

Looking at the rub points inside, the gun looks like it had very minimal shooting wear.  The holster wear is minor too.  None of the 5 screws are buggered and the roll pin in the slide looks to have never been removed.

The serial number is on the barrel.  The gun states "Made in Germany".  The slide is stamped "12-83" towards the end of the barrel, which I suppose is the date.  It also has "NW" stamped on the slide all by itself.  The other side says "Georgia, UT"

The double action trigger is smooth and the single action trigger is most crisp Sig trigger I have felt.  It is also admirably light.  Actually the trigger is why I bought the gun.  I don't like pistols with a barrel shorter than 4.5, but the trigger on this gun was so sweet I couldn't pass it up.

The gun came with two mags, the original blue plastic box, and a German only owners manual which looks pretty old.  The price was $399.99

Good find, your going to love the P6. I found a nearly perfect one about a month ago at a local gun shop. It has become my favorite Sig.

Turbogeo, how do you like those grips?  I saw some on Ebay and was thinking of getting them.

I like them. The main reason I bought them was to cover some ware on the grip area of thre frame. They do make the grip a little fatter.
Weldingrod please post some pictures when you get your P6. I tell you it will be your faviorte gun after one box of ammo!

I have the same grips on mine.  I LOVE them.  Huge improvement over the stock plastic.

Congrats. The P6 is a great pistol. I liked mine so much I told my son in LA if he would order one I'd pay for it. I also switched to the Pachmayr grips and really like them. They do fill your hand up. You might consider getting a spring kit from Top Gun Supply since it is a 27 year old pistol. It's pretty inexpensive and good to have on hand should you ever need it. The only thing it doesn't contain is the mainspring. Mine is marked 9-80 and runs like a champ. Like yours, it had some holster wear but the internals looked new. The only problem with buying your first Sig will be a need to get another, and another, and another. Couple of months after buying my P6 I had to get a P229.
