The DA trigger pull on my 1993 W. German 220 is looooooooooong and HEAVY (got to be around 8-10lbs). Are there springs i can replace myself to help this, or can anyone reccomend a smith near NY that don't have a 2 month turn around time? I do not want to take a chance with light primer strikes, so anything that would do that needs to be avoided. I also want a short trigger installed. Anyone know a ballpark figure for this work?

Check out Wolff Springs. I don't know if they will have what you want or not.

You could also TRAIN by doing DA pulls at the range to strengthen your trigger finger.  Fire, use the decock lever, fire, repeat.  I don't always recommend altering a weapon if there is something the shooter can/should try first, through training or practice to achieve better results.  There is also the Short rigger that you could have installed to shorten the reach for your finger.  Changing the mainspring weight is something that I would recommend as a LAST step or to get a specific kind of performance out of a handgun.

8 to 10 lbs for a DA trigger is about the norm for any brand.  SIG trigger pull is no longer than anything else.

I have 6 DA pistols, and none is even close to the 220 for trigger weight. A 10 lb trigger is way too much.

I am aware of the short trigger, but cannot find a 8mm one.  I want a lighter pull, i don't want to have to inject my finger with steroids.  I am not considering changing the main spring.

I'd say send it off to cylinder and slide or gray guns.  They have action packages that won't reduce the pull weight, but smooth out the trigger making it feel lighter.  Or you can do this the old fashioned way by shooting the crap out of it.  Oh, and if you're interested in a 8mm short trigger, gray guns can make you one, my night stand 220 is currently wearing one, or customized creations makes them as well.  Hope this helps.

Good info, thanks.
