In the process of getting a carry permit.  Of all the handguns in the pile, my 228 is probably the best bet as a carry piece.  For those that carry the 228 (or 229) what are you using for holsters?

My initial criteria is outside the waist band.  IWB isn't in the cards, I have enough trouble just getting me inside a waist band.  No, I don't plan on completely revamping my wardrobe.  Plastic or leather,  Using an Uncle Mike's Kydex right now. Don't like shoulder rigs, have a box full of them.

Suggestions welcomed.

I have carried a P228 in a Galco Fletch high ride holster.  It conceals OK for me but it has a thumb break.  You should be fine with a good high ride holster and the right shirts.

I carry a 229 in a Bianchi Shadow, model 7L, pancake holster.
I don't think Bianchi offers the lined version any more, though.

Have you looked at Comp-Tac's paddle or belt holster?

They are probably the best Kydex holster makers around.

I carry my SIG P229 in a Comp-Tac Pro Undercover or M-Tac IWB holster. They are both very nice. I also have their OWB paddle holster for range use and protection while hunting. If you plan on going OWB, thats the way to go. Concealment isn't too bad with an OWB holster as long as you wear a light jacket or vest.

When I carry my P228, it's in a horsehide Kramer Belt Scrabbard.  If you prefer OWB holsters, the Kramer is outstanding.  The P228 is also a great choice.

I carry my 228 in a Galco Conealable.  It works great for me.

Depending on what I'm wearing, I'll either use a blade-tech SRB or my Galco Combat Master.  I want to to try a Milt Sparks VM2 from everything I've heard/read they're supposed to be awesome, but it's an IWB.

Read much?  OP said inside the waistband isn't an option.  Milt Sparks VMII is a *drum roll*, IWB holster!

I use a Comp-Tac paddle (or a CTAC, but you don't want IWB).  It is a great holster.
