The FAQ says that the P225 was scheduled for discontinuation in the near future.  Has this happened yet?  i was hoping to get one or two new in box P225s when i had the spare cash.  Should I be wporried that this won't be possible?

I thought it already was when the P239 was introduced.

Sig waffles back and forth about this sort of thing. My understanding was that the only thing to be "discontinued" was the importation of the 225, and that it was to be continued in production for Europe...where it is, or at least was...the most common LE pistol in Germany. Not sure how fast the H&K...supposedly recently chosen as standard for the Germans...will actually see the holsters of working cops there. They still have G1's in police lockers for emergency use in the more out-of-the-way stations.

P225 = very nice little pistol!

The supply of new 225s has always been spotty. But it's certainly one that should be in everyones stable. Great handgun.

I still see them NIB at the Texas gun shows.

Just wish they fit my big ass hand.

IMHO the P225 is the best looking SIG.

What would be a good price on a NIB P225?  I know a local pawn shop that has 2 in stock.  Both boxes are in pretty good condition except the foam is disintegrating (from cigarette smoke, maybe??).  One gun only has one magazine.  A "customer" ran off with the second one.  The other one is complete with 2 mags and test target, owner's manual, etc.  I am thinking about buying the gun with one mag if he will cut the price enough.  How much would a second P225 factory magazine cost?  I went to the range Monday and shot my P220 (.45ACP)and P229 (.40 S&W)and started thinking about the P225 again.  I do not have a 9mm SIG yet.  If I remember correctly, he wants $500 for the gun with one mag and $525 for the complete gun.

Those prices are not out of line if the guns are in good shape.

what caliber is the Sig 225

The P225 is only available in 9mm as far as I know.  Are there any calibers?  I know the P220 was available in .45 ACP (most common), .38 Super and 9mm.

Correct. The 225 is only in 9mm.

I've been reading so the Sig 225 is the forerunner to the 228?   single stack short barrell 9mm should be nice for ccw work , along the lines of my 239 i suppose .

It was the downsized 220, designed for concealed LE use with more power than the 230.

That is too bad.  I think that the 225 is the best feeling Sig ever made.  I certainly like them better than the come lately 239.  I've had them all.  Watch-Six

It would be nice if they made single stack SIGs in .357SIG and .40S&W as well.  SIGs are the only double stacks (well HPs too) I have ever really felt comfortable gripping, but i would still prefer single stacks whenever possible.

The 239's are made in both 357 and 40...but the guys are right...they do not feel nearly as good as the 225's.

the drama continues , waiting to hear back today looks good again the 225 and a 191 for my M1 garand , keep your fingers crossed. only problem if it works is finding a holster for ccw.

Lots of them out there. Two of the best I've found were from Lou Alessi and from High Noon Holsters.

Are the 239s single stack?  I was always under the inpression they were just short double stacks.  Oh well, i gess I was wrong.  Maybe i will find one after I get a 225 and try one out.

Yes the P239 is a single stack pistol.  The P239 that I fired in 9mm was single stack held 8 rounds in the magazine, it was a joy to shoot.  The P239 in .40 S&W has a magazine capacity of 7 rounds.

I haven't ordered a gun from them, but CDNN has 225s listed in their new catalogue for $499 if memory serves me.  While it would cost you more than $500 to get one from them, it probably wouldn't be all that much more.

I just put a Sig 225 on layaway.  It was at a pawn shop.  I checked it out and it was in great shape.  I've never owned a sig but have heard a lot of good things about them.  I had always wanted one but couldn't scrape up the money.  If $500 is a good deal then I got a steal.  I got it for $350.  It's pretty clean and the slide is tight on it.  I can't wait to get it to the range.

Darn good deal...were you wearing a mask?
I did see one at a show yesterday, for a whole lot more, over $500, I think.

KY Imports has them for $600 brand new.  $350 for ANY sig is a good deal in my book.  I want one of their used 226's for $389...sheesh thats a good deal.

i originally had the P239, then picked up the 225 this weekend (along with a P226)  the P225 is slightly larger than the p239 by a whopping .2 in some dimensions.  the p225 grip is alot better than the p239.  i think that if i had to sell one of them it would be the p239.

BTW, i stole the P225 for $375, no box though.

I recently snagged my P225 off of AuctionArms.com for a sweet price. Gun is 99% perfect, factory nickel finish with 2 factory nickel mags all in the original box. Grabbed it for $560!

Here she is next to her big brother, my P226 9mm:

I picked up my 225 from a friend who only put 500 rounds through it.  It is a very nice pistol, you will not regret it.  I looked for a NIB, but they were as hard to find as Whitewater information.

I stopped by my favorite hole in the wall gunshop last week. My dealer had a MINT SIG P225, frame mounted mag release, with three magazines and factory night sights. The exterior is absolutely 100% condition, and from the interior I would say the original owner MIGHT have put 50-100 rounds through it. I LOVE the feel of these things.

$525 out the door. And I just bought a Pre-Series II Kimber this week dammit.

To make it even worse, he said he'd put it in the safe and let me make monthy payments because he'd rather have it go to someone that knows what it is.

You guys have convinced me.  Im going to go put that bad boy on lay away tomorrow.

You definitely got a steal.  The 225s that I have ran into go 500 used.  The only problem that I have ran into with mine is that the hammer spring was weak and it would misfire every once in a while.  I called sig and they sent me free a new spring, put it in, took about 5 minutes and took care of the problem.  I think it is the best feeling sig made.
