Just picked up a new one today and am excited to get to the range. My question is how can I tell when it was made? I heard the early ones were problimatic.

Thanks.

I dont know about dating them but I do know mine will only run on CCI ammo which the SIG manual tells you to use. I tried Winchester and Federal and she won't run on either. Using the CCI ammo she has run flawlessly. I have seen several threads over the years where it was said that All auto .22 pistols can be finicky.

Many new Mosquito owners have found that breaking in with MiniMags, around 1000 rounds, allows them to transition to other ammo brands. Run it well oiled, and try both springs to find what works best.

Picked up my new reverse 2-tone yesterday and put a quick 100 rounds through it at the range.  CCI mini-mags as recommended, and kept the installed "white" spring in it.  Not one problem,  Accuracy is so far not impressive but I've got more work to do to get a true picture.  DA is smooth but long and strong.  It's fun so far and I look forward to trying some Federal wally-mart bulk pack through it once it's broken-in.  BTW...paid $320 with tax and transfer out the door.

Mine is getting better with a little work and some break in.

I never did buy CCI Stingers as I could buy another gun at what 1000 of those cost.

Remington Hi-Speed I bought from the CMP work very well, Winchester Wildcats almost as well.

The trouble is the pistol requires ammo with a minimum muzzle energy to function.  Those hot CCI Stingers have it, same with high speed 40 grain ammo, but not the bulk standard velocity stuff you can buy for 9-10 bucks a brick that also shoots well in a Ruger MK1.

FWIW, that bulk Federal stuff at 9 bucks a brick I bought for this gun shoots ~2 MOA through my 1922 vintage Winchester 52 from prone - I mean 15 rounds within a 2 1/2" circle.

Break it in with the CCI mini mags probabaly 300 to 500 rounds then it should eat anything you feed it.  I have one gun that I used the CCI's the break in and a 2nd that I used Remington Bulk 550 pack for break in.  The CCI;s went a little quicker.

After 55 rounds clean them and they SHOULD shoot what ever.  I use the Remington 550 bulk pack in them now.  I only have .22 bulk ammo problems now.  They have close to 7000 rounds throught them between the 2 and they run like a champ.

I did find out that they might not work with any subsonic ammo.  A guy at the range had some that woulnt work in his GSG so he gave it to me.  I tried a clip and it was a single shot handgun.

I got mine about a month or so ago from Academy.  mini mags gave me some issues, but Fed bulk pack has run great.  ~500+ rds of fed through it and it works like a champ

Mine only runs on Minimags.
